The Tar River Symphonic Band is comprised of musicians that come from as far away as Fayetteville and Greensboro. Many of the approximately 50 musicians represent such diverse occupations as medical doctor, dentist, corporate lawyer, accountant, college professor, minister and computer programmers, as well as teachers, band directors, and professional musicians. The Symphonic Band was featured in 1997 at the North Carolina Music Educators' Convention in Winston-Salem.
