The Tar River Junior Strings program offers area students an opportunity to learn a stringed instrument in weekly private and group classes.

In addition, intermediate and advanced students participate in weekly ensemble classes. The program also offers a beginning group class for pre-school age children.

Program Director Jane Yeager started playing violin at age seven. After earning a violin performance degree from Bowling State University of Ohio in 1976, she obtained her Indiana teacher's certification while taking Suzuki violin pedagogy courses at the University of Evansville.

Besides teaching privately and in public schools over the past 20 years, she also started and coordinated pilot Suzuki programs. Ms. Yeager plays violin and viola in the Tar River Philharmonic Orchestra and smaller ensembles.
