MESSAGE FROM THE LEAGUE

The Tar River Orchestra and Chorus League is a volunteer organization which promotes partnership with the Tar River Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus, the Tar River Symphonic Band, and the newly organized Tar River Swing Band. For our young people's musical enrichment, appreciation and education, we promote youth concerts through participation in the Junior Strings, Children's Chorus, and Young Artist Competition.

The League supports these musicians and programs through a number of projects. Some of these are pre-season ticket sales, program advertisements, fund-raisers, providing ushers at concerts, and furnishing refreshments for the musicians during rehearsals.

The League is also very proud to present several scholarships each year to members of the Children's Chorus and Junior Strings.

We invite you to become a member of the TROC League. Becoming a volunteer will give you an excellent opportunity to make a major inpact on the cultural enrichment of our community. Together we can continue our promotion of quality musical entertainment for everyone.

MAKING THE MUSIC LAST

The ENCORE! campaign that will take place over the next few months is about ensuring the future of choral and instrumental music as a defining force in the cultural development of our area.

ENCORE! is an endowment campaign - clearly the most significent financial effort ever undertaken by our organization. In economic "down cycles," the arts ore often the hardest hit. The security of the Endowment will help us continue to attract high quality Principal Players and more instructors for the Junior String Program. (Presently there is a far greater demand for teachers than we are able to meet.)

An active Endowment will also allow us to build our Music Library and obtain additional instruments that are so badly needed.

I am honored to chair this historic effort by TROC, assisted by a group of outstanding community volunteers. Together, we can endow a creative community that will be a beacon throughout our beloved Eastern North Carolina.

Daniel Lind Crocker, M.D.
ENCORE! Campaign Chair
