Tar River Youth Strings
revised 8.12.2010
The Tar River Youth Strings Program offers string lessons to local students. Children as young as three and four start learning
how to play the violin. The children are taught with a modified Suzuki philosophy. The students receive private lessons
and then when advanced enough, they attend a weekly ensemble rehearsal. The teachers for this program are Jane Yeager and Christopher
Ellis.
The Youth Strings performed at the Tar River Philharmonic Orchestra concert on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Dunn Center for the Performing Arts on the NC Wesleyan College Campus in Rocky Mount, NC. Also on the program were string students from Nashville and Benvenue Elementary Schools in Rocky Mount.
