Jane Yeager and Chris Ellis head the thrivingTar River Junior Strings program, and Patsy Gilliland conducts the outstandingTar River Children's Chorus, providing musical education that creates tomorrow's audiences and builds musicians for the future.	Since 1988 we have sponsored a Young Artist Competition annually, offering talented musicians the opportunity to solo with the Tar River Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Al Sturgis.
In keeping with the organization's mission of reaching out to audiences of all ages throughout the region, small wind and string ensembles visit schools in Nash and Edgecombe counties to introduce their instruments and play excerpts of band or orchestral repertoire.
